The Surgeon by Felix-El-Gato The Surgeon by Felix-El-Gato
And so after a whole month and a half, he returns.

Sorry about being away, I just spent 4 weeks in Nepal :D Which was awesome, btw.
Here's a little something I whipped up a week ago, after having finally gotten over my MOCing block.

C&C appreciated, dudes :L

Always liked that one and its creative shape. And those scary hands... Looks completely crazy which is good. I'd just wish the eye was a little more visible.

You mean the blades? They're from some of the newer Hero Factory sets, these ones are from Rocka.

Looks great Felix, love the integration of the metru body into the headish-torsoy thingy. I see that once again you're going for Aesthetics above all else. :) Heh, I should try that some time.

Cheers Dave! Yah, aesthetics to me are far more important than poseability, 'cos in the end people are just seeing a picture of it. You'd wanna make it look as good as possible, yet that could end up being such a pain in the ass to stand, just like this one :P

Cheers Felix. ^_^ That's like totally opposite from my philosophy. Only more recently have I been more lenient of the fragility with which parts attach or stay on. I try to build really solid stable MOCs, and I'm more interested in articulation, after all, that's what made bionicle so popular in the beginning. It was these "action-figures" that were much more articulated than the typical one that we could take apart and build into different things. I still however place importance on Aesthetics, but I never sacrifice stability for it. Articulation I will though in some cases.

I also don't MOC based on what others will see, or like. I MOC for myself first and foremost. If people don't like the way I've done something, too damn bad. I hate how people on FB and Flicker were like "you need to do this, or that." No, fuck that. They need to shut up and realize everyone does things differently, which is why watching other MOCers is fun, cause you do find ways of taking the same pieces we've had for years and doing something new that we ourselves wouldn't have come up with. Plus MOCers worth a damn generally are going to be able to recognize what can move, what can't, and how. I don't think you are, but the way you put that made it sound like you're MOCing to try and impress others. And that's the wrong reason to MOC. Satisfy yourself, and in doing so others will still appreciate your work. And don't ever be apologetic for your work. I see that on flickr to. You're good enough of a MOCer to do precisely what you set out to do.
